Epcot Flower and Garden Festival

The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival is a beautiful way to welcome spring and summer! If you are a fan of the Food and Wine but not a fan of the crowds you will love this event.  It runs from March through the end of May and every country offers specialty drinks and food items. The U.K. has a wonderful blueberry beer and a delicious lemon scone with creme fraiche and fresh berries. Delicious! France has an amazing chocolate raspberry macaroon and a champagne/chambord drink you won't want to miss.

The butterfly pavilion is a must see! Here you can see many different types of butterflies in their own habitats. You can even learn about what plants to grow in your own backyard to attract them.
Another must see are the purple martins. They are migratory songbirds that visit Epcot each year. For more information on these birds check out  the Disney blog site here.

Donald and his nephews are gardening in the above photo. There is a different vegetable in every row...cabbage, carrots, lettuce, beets and many more! This garden is inside the gate and our favorite!

The Flower and Garden Festival is our new favorite at WDW. We were very much turned off by the Food and Wine festival this year because of the crowds. The Flower and Garden festival is a new take on food and wine with info on where our food comes from. It raises awareness on buying from local farms which has always been something I love to do. It was one of the main reasons I loved living in Coopersburg, PA...for all the fresh produce. Believe it or not...it is not as easy to find here in FL as it was back home.
Great job Disney for this successful event that no only teaches children about the importance of local produce, farming and taking care of the environment but teaches adults too. I miss my garden from PA terribly and I can't wait to start growing some goodies in our new home soon! This event has certainly been an inspiration.
