Disney with Kids

Traveling has always been important to us. We love to get out and see the world. Since we have had children we have spent quite a bit of time at the Disney Parks because it's a very easy vacation with kids. The entire staff (cast members) are so accommodating. In fact a few years back we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table and our kids were getting sleepy. This is a completely normal situation when you have a family (tired and cranky kids). However, the cast members at Big River Grill on Disney's Boardwalk did not see it that way. They did all they could to make up for us having to wait. They even gave our exhausted 3 year old at the time a teddy bear to keep! When we get asked time and time again why we travel to Disney so often, the superb customer service and respect for families always come back as being the main reason. Because of this we decided to purchase the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) a few years back through a resale company since it was significantly cheaper than buying through Disney.

Traveling in general with children is much more difficult than traveling alone of course.
First we always make sure we have the proper carry on bags for our trip. They must be able to fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment. This bag is my absolute MUST HAVE and I have it in about 4 different colors! It's a perfect travel bag with a luggage strap since it zips to add an extra 6 inches to the bag. I can't travel without this Getaway bag from Stella&Dot!

We always try to be as prepared as possible before we leave the house ordering our groceries online at http://gardengrocer.com so they are there upon our arrival. We order everything from juice boxes, waters, wine, beer, snacks, bread, lunchmeat and mac and cheese. When one bottle of water is $3 and you will most likely go through about 4 waters per day, per person  in the heat/humidity of Florida you will be so happy you have your own stash! Even though the Garden Grocer might be a tad bit more expensive than what you are used to, it is far cheaper than paying the park prices.
The next thing is to make sure you bring along a small soft cooler in your luggage so all of your items stay nice and cool throughout the parks. Once we get to the hotel we usually throw a water bottle in the freezer to act as a cold pack. We save a ton of money this way. Especially with kids that really need to be hydrated constantly in the Florida heat.
Lastly, if you have children that might otherwise not need a stroller (ages 5-7) you may need to rethink that. Disney requires a ton of walking and honestly some of our better evenings were the kids sleeping in the stroller while we enjoyed a beer or glass of wine. Plus, its a handy place to hang your stuff! Strollers can be rented at the entrance of the park (single and double).
